TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AT THE ROTORUA TRYATHLON

This year we are asking you to complete two surveys.

The first survey is about your child and their experience of the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon – from your perspective as a parent or guardian.  If you had more than one child take part in this year’s event, we ask that you answer the questions in relation to one child in particular.  You can take the survey again if you’d like to provide answers for another child.

The second survey is about the TRYathlon in general and your experiences and how we can improve the TRYathlon for next year.

Training Tips

It’s a good idea to do some training before the TRYathlon. Following a simple training plan will make sure that when the event day comes around you are well prepared and able to enjoy the buzz of the TRYathlon.

Training Plan & Tips

GET YOUR BIKE & HELMET CHECKED

If you have any concerns regarding the safety of your child’s bike and helmet we recommend that you get them checked over at your local bike store. 99 Bikes will be onsite at your Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon event to assist with any queries and minor repairs required onsite.

It’s been an incredibly disruptive year due to COVID-19, which is why it’s important for the health and wellbeing of our children and communities to return to normality as quickly as possible.

Sanitarium is committed to giving Kiwi kids the opportunity to achieve, thrive and have fun. We want to deliver a positive event experience for all our participants, and we have contingency plans in place if required. As always, health & safety is our number one priority.

Refund options will be available in the unfortunate situation that we are unable to operate our normal TRYathlon event.  Alternative options to still participate in a great program, receive recognition and the ever-popular shirts, medals and other participation kit will also be available. For our full refund policy please click here.

If there are changes to the event calendar or the event format you will be notified.  Please keep an eye on your email, our Facebook page and the website for updates.

The Transition area is located adjacent to the Rotorua Aquatic Centre southern car park. The bike leg is around the streets surrounding Kuirau Park, and the run leg is around Kuirau Park itself. What is the SPLASH & DASH?

Specially designed for 6 year old Kiwi kids, the Splash & Dash will see our budding TRYathletes complete a 50m pool swim followed by a 1500m run around Kuirau Park, before crossing the finish line to receive their champion’s medal from one of New Zealand’s’ top sporting stars.

The Splash & Dash is the perfect preparation for the full TRYathlon.

Spaces are strictly limited so make sure you enter today. Participants must be 6 years old on the day of the event to be eligible to participate.

The course:

Swim:  The swim is 50m long in the shallowest end of the pool or beach. Kick-boards will be available and there will be lifeguards in the water at all times.

Transition:  On completing the swim they will then run into the Transition area, change into their shoes, towel and their Weet-Bix event T-Shirt (which you would have laid out for them prior to the event starting). Our Haier Help team will be on hand in the Transition area to assist them in getting changed and tying their shoelaces. Parents of Splash & Dash participants will be able to meet their child in Transition and assist with getting them ready for the run. Details on this will be shared in the event day guides and in the Splash & Dash event day briefing.

Run: The children will then complete the 1500m run, on their own, to complete the Splash & Dash, and receive their champion’s medal. Parents will be able to wait at the finish line to cheer them on.
