The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon in the Bay of Islands is located at Waitangi adjacent to the Treaty Grounds. The event will start with a swim in the ocean at Te Tii Bay. Tryathletes are generally able to stand-up during the short swim; however, we do encourage everyone to give swimming a go! The Transition Area is located opposite the Waitangi Copthorne hotel. The bike is across the bridge towards Paihia and the roads surrounding Te Tii marae and the run is back at the event village site.

Thanks to the Weet-Bix Tryathlon Foundation and the Far North District Council we have 400 $20-Off discount coupons for Decile 1-4 school students in Northland. Please contact Jen Fielden at Sport Northland for further details at jenf@sportnorth.co.nz

HAVE FUN

We create a safe environment where kids can focus on enjoying time with friends on the course or in activities around the TRYathlon Village.

BE INSPIRED

Every child, no matter their ability, is considered a champion and encouraged by Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon Ambassadors. A medallion is awarded for completion.

BOOST CONFIDENCE

85% of parents tell us their child felt better about themselves or were glowing with pride on completion and their self-esteem and self-confidence improved.

GREAT VALUE

TRYathletes receive a KIT stuffed full of goodies from Weet-Bix and our sponsors.

Plus free breakfast and activities in the village for all.

7.00-8.00am 1.A. Have your event kit? – Head towards Transition and look for the Check-In flags and tents.

At Transition, your bib will be scanned to check you in to the event and place you into the prize draw. You will then receive your Arena Swim Cap. Once you have checked in, you will keep moving through transition to position your bike with one parent if necessary to help you.

(Please note: more than one parent creates too much congestion in the Transition area).

While you’re in Transition, ask a Help Team volunteer to write your bib number on your arm and leg. This will help the photographers send you the right photos after the event and give the organisers another point of reference to check your details if necessary.

1.B. Don’t have your event kit? – Bring your confirmation email to the Admin Tent where you can collect your Event Kit and receive answers to any questions you may have.

Once you have received your event kit, make your way to Transition and look for the Check In flags and tents.

You will need to leave the following items in Transition:

  • Official Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon t-shirt with Bib Number attached to the front.
  • Bike with your event number sticker attached to the handle bars.
  • Helmet with your event number sticker attached to the front.
  • Running shoes and socks.
  • Towel.
  • Drink bottle.
  • Any medication you may need use of during the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon (eg. asthma inhaler)
  • A box or something similar to put all your things in next to your bike.
8.15am Transition CLOSES – No entry to the transition area will be allowed after this time.
8.30am Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon BRIEFING for all participants in front of the main stage container.
9.00am Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon STARTS and participants are called in swim cap colour order to get ready at the swim section of the event.

After the final participant has completed the course, controlled access for those wanting to remove bikes from transition will be permitted from a single designated entry point under the guidance of Transition HELP TEAM Marshals until Prize-giving has been completed.

After the prize-giving has been completed, general access to bikes in the Transition Area will be permitted. Several entries to transition will be created and security spot checks will be carried out by Transition HELP TEAM Marshals.

You should plan to be at the venue until approximately 1pm.

“A huge sense of achievement, able to share this achievement with others by having the medal, t-shirt etc, to show them. They love being active so this was a great extension of their interests, especially doing 3 disciplines together.”
