The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon in New Plymouth is located at Ngamotu Beach. The swim is located in the sea, and runs parallel to the beach. The swim takes place at the end of the beach towards the Port. Tryathletes are generally able to stand-up during the short swim; however, we do encourage everyone to give swimming a go! The Transition Area is located on the access road near the reserve, and the bike and run of the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon on the nearby ocean-side walkway.
Our New Plymouth event has now SOLD OUT. Due to Health and Safety will be unable to accept any further registrations. We are looking forward to seeing all our New Plymouth TRYathletes on Wednesday the 29th of March.

We create a safe environment where kids can focus on enjoying time with friends on the course or in activities around the TRYathlon Village.
Every child, no matter their ability, is considered a champion and encouraged by Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon Ambassadors. A medallion is awarded for completion.
85% of parents tell us their child felt better about themselves or were glowing with pride on completion and their self-esteem and self-confidence improved.
TRYathletes receive a KIT stuffed full of goodies from Weet-Bix and our sponsors.
Plus free breakfast and activities in the village for all.
|8.00-9.15am||1.A. Have your event kit? – Head towards Transition and look for the Check-In flags and tents.
At Transition, your bib will be scanned to check you in to the event and place you into the prize draw. You will then receive your Arena Swim Cap. Once you have checked in, you will keep moving through transition to position your bike with one parent if necessary to help you.
(Please note: more than one parent creates too much congestion in the Transition area).
While you’re in Transition, ask a Help Team volunteer to write your bib number on your arm and leg. This will help the photographers send you the right photos after the event and give the organisers another point of reference to check your details if necessary.
|1.B. Don’t have your event kit? – Bring your confirmation email to the Admin Tent where you can collect your Event Kit and receive answers to any questions you may have.
Once you have received your event kit, make your way to Transition and look for the Check In flags and tents.

After the prize-giving has been completed, general access to bikes in the Transition Area will be permitted. Several entries to transition will be created and security spot checks will be carried out by Transition HELP TEAM Marshals.
You should plan to be at the venue until approximately 1pm.
“My child has special needs and has done the TRYathlon for the last 4 years. He does it because he can, because he is treated like everyone else and he is so proud when he gets out of his wheelchair to walk the last little bit to cross the line.”
